The Health and Social Science degree develops your knowledge of wellbeing, social policy and community health for a rewarding career in health and social care.

  • The BSc (Hons) Health & Social Science course helps you turn your passion for health, wellbeing and society into a rewarding career, developing the skills to understand social challenges, support communities and improve people's quality of life.

  • We welcome applications from students with a range of educational and professional backgrounds. Each application is considered individually to ensure applicants have the skills, experience, and motivation needed to succeed on the course.

    Applicants with Previous Qualifications

Applicants are normally expected to have:

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) at grade C/4 or above.

Applicants from countries where English is not the majority language are expected to demonstrate English language proficiency with an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no individual component below 5.5.

    Mature Applicants (21+)

Applicants aged 21 and over who do not meet the standard entry requirements may still be considered through our assessment-based admissions process. We recognise that relevant work experience, volunteering, and life experience can provide valuable skills and knowledge that support your studies.

Mature applicants may be required to:

Provide supporting documents, including valid identification, a personal statement, and proof of address dated within the last three months.

Complete a Screening for Accreditation of Prior Experience (SAPE) assessment to demonstrate how previous experience relates to the course.

Meet the English language requirements where applicable. Applicants from non-majority English-speaking countries are expected to achieve an overall IELTS score of 5.5, with no individual component below 5.5.

Provide any additional supporting documents that may be required based on the details of their application.

This flexible approach ensures applicants with relevant experience have the opportunity to access higher education and progress towards their career goals.
