Students study through flexible online learning and complete practical projects, preparing them for senior careers in cyber security, information security, digital forensics, risk management, and security consultancy.

The MSc Cyber Security (Online) is designed for professionals who already have experience or qualifications in computing, IT, or cyber security and want to advance their careers. The course develops advanced knowledge of information governance, network security, ethical hacking, cyber risk management, and digital security. Students learn how to identify cyber threats, protect organisations from attacks, investigate security incidents, and apply industry best practices to modern security challenges. Teaching is delivered fully online through lectures, tutorials, practical exercises, videos, and interactive learning activities, allowing students to study flexibly alongside work or personal commitments. The programme also develops research, communication, leadership, and analytical skills. Students complete a major research project where they investigate a cyber security topic in depth and apply their knowledge to a real-world challenge. Graduates are prepared for senior roles in cyber security and information security.
Applicants should normally have a minimum 2:2 honours degree from a recognised university in a relevant subject, such as IT, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field. Professional qualifications equivalent to an honours degree, such as CISSP, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or CompTIA+, may also be accepted. Applicants with relevant work experience or non-standard qualifications may be considered on an individual basis. Applicants should also have GCSE English at grade A–C/4 or equivalent. This course is intended for students who already have technical knowledge or professional experience in cyber security.
