This Health, Wellbeing and Social Care degree with Foundation Year provides a strong understanding of health and care services while developing practical, academic, and professional skills. You’ll learn how to support individuals and communities, improve wellbeing, and prepare for a rewarding career in the health and social care sector.

This BSc (Hons) Health, Wellbeing and Social Care with Foundation Year is designed for students who want to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for a career in the health and social care sector. The Foundation Year provides a supportive introduction to university study, helping you build essential academic skills while exploring key topics related to health, wellbeing, and care.
Throughout the course, you will examine the factors that influence health, how care services are delivered, and the importance of effective leadership and management within health and social care organisations. You will develop an understanding of how services support individuals, families, and communities, while learning how care can be improved to meet changing needs.
With guidance from experienced lecturers and practical learning opportunities, you will build valuable skills in communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving. By graduation, you will be prepared for a range of careers in health, wellbeing, and social care.
Applicants Must be Aged 18+ and:
Have a Level 3 qualification (equivalent to either 60 credits or 80 UCAS tariff points).
Have the following qualifications: Five GCSEs at grade 4/C (including English) or above or equivalent.
Be assessed via an interview for listening, speaking, and writing (more details shown in ‘Next steps’ section).
Applicants Aged 21+:
We welcome applications from students 21+ who do not match the standard entry requirements but who can demonstrate willingness and commitment to studying this subject, and who can evidence academic, professional or vocational experience in a related field.
