BSc Computing with Cyber Security Technology (Top-up)

The BSc (Hons) Computing with Cyber Security Technology develops the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to protect digital systems and manage cyber threats. Students gain expertise in ethical hacking, digital forensics, cyber security governance, and penetration testing, preparing them for careers in the rapidly growing cyber security sector.

The BSc (Hons) Computing with Cyber Security Technology combines core computing principles with specialist knowledge in cyber security, preparing students to protect digital systems and respond to evolving cyber threats. The programme explores areas such as information governance, cyber security risk management, ethical hacking, digital forensics, and vulnerability analysis, alongside essential computing concepts. Through practical projects, laboratory activities, and industry-focused learning, students develop the technical and analytical skills required to identify security risks, investigate cyber incidents, and implement effective security measures. The course also enhances problem-solving, communication, and research skills while introducing learners to current tools and technologies used within the cyber security industry. Graduates are well prepared for careers in cyber security, information assurance, and digital forensics or for progression to postgraduate study.
Applicants may enter the programme at different stages depending on their previous qualifications. Entry to Year One normally requires 112 UCAS Tariff points, together with GCSE English Language and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or an equivalent qualification. Direct entry to Year Two is available for applicants holding an HNC or another recognised Level 4 qualification in Computing or Information Technology. Applicants wishing to enter Year Three should normally possess an HND, Foundation Degree, Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE), or another recognised Level 5 qualification in a computing or IT-related discipline. Applicants entering at Levels 5 or 6 must also provide evidence of Level 2 Mathematics or an equivalent qualification. Mature applicants with relevant industry experience may also be be considered. International applicants must satisfy the University's English language requirements, including IELTS 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5, or an approved equivalent.
