The BSc (Hons) Computing with Data Science and Big Data Technology develops advanced computing, data analytics, and cloud computing skills for the modern digital economy. The BSc (Hons) Computing with Data Science and Big Data Technology equips students with a strong foundation in computing while developing specialist expertise in data science, big data technologies, and cloud-based analytics. The programme explores programming, database systems, machine learning, cloud computing, and business intelligence, enabling students to understand how large datasets can be transformed into valuable business insights. Through practical laboratory sessions, industry-focused projects, and real-world case studies, students gain hands-on experience using modern tools and technologies to solve complex data challenges. Applicants can enter the programme at different stages based on their previous qualifications. Entry to Year One typically requires 112 UCAS Tariff points, together with GCSE English Language and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or an equivalent qualification. Students seeking direct entry to Year Two should normally hold an HNC or another recognised Level 4 qualification in Computing or Information Technology. Entry to Year Three is available to applicants with an HND, Foundation Degree, DipHE, or another relevant Level 5 qualification in a computing-related subject. Applicants joining at Levels 5 or 6 must also provide evidence of a Level 2 Mathematics qualification or equivalent, although exemptions may apply for previous study in relevant quantitative subjects. International applicants must also meet the University's English language requirements.
