BSc Health and Social Science with Foundation Year
This Health and Social Science degree helps you understand health, wellbeing, communities, and society while developing practical workplace skills. You’ll gain knowledge in areas such as sociology, social policy, and community health, preparing you for careers in health and social care.

The BSc (Hons) Health & Social Science degree is designed for students who want to explore a wide range of topics related to health, wellbeing, and society without focusing on one specific area. The course combines subjects such as health, sociology, social policy, and community sport to give you a broad understanding of the factors that influence people’s lives and wellbeing.
Throughout the programme, you will develop important academic, communication, leadership, and teamwork skills. A key part of the course is work-related learning in the second year, where you will gain valuable experience and develop the skills needed for the workplace.
You will be supported in developing your confidence as a university student through a variety of learning activities and assessments, including written coursework, presentations, and exams. By the end of the degree, you will have the knowledge and practical skills needed to progress into careers in health, social sciences, community services, or further study.
We welcome applications from students with a range of educational and professional backgrounds. Each application is considered individually to ensure applicants have the skills, experience, and motivation needed to succeed on the course.
