Cert HE in Business Studies with Foundation

This programme introduces you to the fundamentals of business and how organisations operate in today's world. You will develop practical business knowledge, essential academic skills, and an understanding of current industry trends, preparing you for employment, career progression, or further study in business and management.

  • This Business Studies programme introduces you to how modern organisations operate and prepares you for a range of opportunities in the business world.

Throughout the course, you will explore current business practices and understand how developments in technology, including the fourth industrial revolution, are changing the way organisations work. You will also examine key global challenges affecting businesses today, including diversity and inclusion, sustainability, and achieving net zero goals.

Alongside business knowledge, you will develop important academic and employability skills that help you succeed in higher education and the workplace. The course focuses on applying learning to real business situations, helping you build confidence, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

By the time you graduate, you will be prepared for entry-level business roles, progression into supervisory or management positions, or further study towards a bachelor’s degree.

  • To apply for the Cert HE Business Studies with Foundation Programme (2 years), you will normally need 5 GCSE passes or an equivalent qualification recognised by NARIC.

UK students and eligible EU applicants do not need formal proof of English, as defined by the University. All applicants will be assessed by the admissions team through an interview, which checks listening, speaking, and reading skills, along with a personal statement for writing ability. Students whose first language is not English are expected to have English at CEFR Level B1. Final admission is subject to approval by the University.

Younger applicants must meet the University’s standard Level 3 entry requirements. In all cases, applicants may also be asked to complete interviews and entrance tests approved by the University and LSC.

If you do not meet the standard entry requirements, you may still be considered. The college welcomes applications from people who can show relevant work or life experience that demonstrates they are ready for higher education.

In these cases, your application will be reviewed based on:

    Relevant and substantial work experience

Your ability to succeed in academic study

    A reference from an employer

Evidence of English language ability (usually CEFR Level B2 for Level 4 entry, or B1 for Level 3), confirmed through an approved external test

All applications are assessed individually and may include interviews and testing as part of the process.
