Cert HE in Health and Social Care with Foundation  Copy

This programme provides a flexible introduction to health and social care, helping you build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for further study or career progression. It is ideal if you want to experience university-level study before progressing to a full degree or advancing your career.

  • The Certificate of Higher Education in Health and Social Care with Foundation Year is designed for students who want to develop knowledge and skills in the health and social care sector through a flexible higher education pathway. Starting at Level 3 and progressing to Level 4, the course provides a supportive introduction to university study while building an understanding of key health and social care topics.

This programme is ideal for students who want to improve their career opportunities, gain confidence in higher education, or explore the sector before committing to a full degree. Throughout the course, you will develop valuable skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and professional practice, helping you understand the needs of individuals and communities.

By the time you complete the programme, you will have gained a recognised qualification that can support career progression, further study, or progression onto a related degree programme.

  • To apply for the Cert HE Health and Social Care with Foundation Programme (2 years), you will usually need 5 GCSE passes or an equivalent qualification recognised by NARIC.

UK applicants and eligible EU students do not need to provide formal proof of English, as defined by the University. All applicants will be assessed through an interview with the admissions team, which checks listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, along with a personal statement. Students whose first language is not English are expected to have English at CEFR Level B1. Final admission is subject to approval by the University.

Younger applicants will need to meet the standard Level 3 entry requirements set by the University. In all cases, applicants may also be asked to complete interviews and entry tests approved by the University and LSC.

If you do not meet the standard entry requirements, you may still be considered. The college welcomes applications from people who can show relevant work or life experience that demonstrates they are ready for higher education.

In these cases, your application will be reviewed based on:

    Relevant and substantial work experience

Your ability to succeed in academic study

    A reference from an employer

Evidence of English language ability (usually CEFR Level B2 for Level 4 entry, or B1 for Level 3), confirmed through an approved external test

All applications are assessed individually and may include interviews and testing as part of the process.
