Certificate in Higher Education Business Studies
This programme introduces you to the fundamentals of business and management, helping you understand how organisations operate in today's global environment. You will develop practical business, leadership, and management skills while building a strong foundation for employment or progression to a full business and management degree.

The CertHE in Business Studies with Foundation is designed to give you a strong introduction to business and management while helping you build the skills needed for further study or employment. Throughout the course, you will explore how organisations operate, their goals, structures, and the challenges they face in today’s changing business environment.
You will develop an understanding of key business areas including management, leadership, organisational behaviour, and the ethical and legal responsibilities of businesses. The programme also introduces practical business skills and modern management techniques, helping you build confidence in communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork.
With a focus on real-world learning, you will gain knowledge that can be applied in different workplace settings. This qualification can be completed as a standalone award or used as a pathway to progress onto a full bachelor’s degree in business and management.
To join the Cert HE Business Studies with Foundation (2-year programme), applicants usually need 5 GCSE passes or an equivalent qualification recognised by NARIC.
UK students and eligible EU applicants do not need formal proof of English, as defined by Canterbury Christ Church University. All applicants will be interviewed by the admissions team to assess their communication skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. A personal statement is also required. Students whose first language is not English are expected to have English skills at CEFR Level B1. Final admission is subject to approval by Canterbury Christ Church University.
Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements may still be considered. The college welcomes applications from people with relevant work or life experience that shows they are ready for higher education.
In these cases, the admissions team will review evidence such as:
Relevant and substantial work experience
Ability to succeed in academic study
A reference from an employer
Proof of English language ability (usually CEFR Level B2 for Level 4 entry, or B1 for Level 0), confirmed through an approved external test
All applications are carefully assessed on individual merit.
