FdSc Supporting Innovation in Health and Social Care

This programme gives you a strong foundation in health and social care, helping you develop the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence needed for a career in the sector. You will explore health, wellbeing, and social care in today's society, preparing you for employment or further study.

  • This Health and Social Care programme is designed for students who want to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for a rewarding career in the health and social care sector. With growing demand for skilled professionals, the course provides a strong understanding of how health and social care services support individuals, families, and communities. 


    Throughout the programme, you will explore key topics including physical and mental health, wellbeing, care services, and the experiences of different groups within society. You will develop valuable skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking, and professional practice, helping you meet the needs of employers in the sector. The course combines academic learning with practical understanding, preparing you for employment or further study. 


    By the time you graduate, you will have the knowledge and transferable skills needed to progress into a range of health and social care roles.

  • To apply for this course, you will usually need at least 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths, or equivalent Level 2 qualifications.


    You will also need one of the following:


    At least 64 UCAS points

    A relevant Level 3 qualification such as a GNVQ, NVQ, BTEC Diploma/Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, or A Levels


    You will be required to complete an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check in line with college policy, as well as provide two references.


    If you do not meet the standard entry requirements, you may still be considered based on relevant work experience and skills that show you are ready for study at this level. This will be assessed in line with university admissions guidance.


    Applicants with at least 48 UCAS points and strong industry experience may be invited to interview and considered on an individual basis.
