Learners will examine the context of mental health, the impact of current legislation, and the role of media in shaping public attitudes and perceptions. The course also traces the evolution of professional approaches and practices in mental health care, providing insight into how support strategies have developed over time. Participants will gain the knowledge and understanding needed to effectively support individuals experiencing mental health challenges while promoting awareness, empathy, and best practice.

  • Key modules in this course will cover:

    • Understanding the context of mental health and wellbeing 

    • Explain how current legislation applies to people with a mental health problem. 

    • Describe how the media can influence attitudes and perception of people with mental health issues.

    • Explain how professional approaches and practice to mental health problems have changed over time. 

    • Learners have to be 19+ 

    • Have a good level of both written and spoken English
