Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety

The Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety develops practical skills for workplace safety and provides IOSH accreditation, supporting career progression and professional recognition.

  • The Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is a competence-based qualification for individuals responsible for health and safety in their workplace. This qualification allows candidates to demonstrate their practical skills, understanding, and knowledge in occupational health and safety. As a generic qualification, it is suitable for individuals working in various industries who wish to advance their careers in health and safety roles.

    IOSH accreditation:
This programme has been accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Eligible enrolled students can access IOSH Student Membership for the duration of their studies and, on successful completion of the Level 3 qualification plus one year of relevant experience, will meet the academic requirements for Technical (Tech IOSH) membership.
As IOSH is the only organisation in the world that offers Chartered membership to health and safety practitioners, this qualification can help you achieve the highest professional standards and gain international recognition.

  • There are no formal entry requirements; however, candidates must have a good understanding of English and be working in a role with health and safety responsibilities in any industry.
Crystal&Co will conduct an initial assessment with each candidate before enrolment to ensure this qualification is appropriate. This assessment will help identify any gaps and assist in planning the assessment process.

  • To achieve this qualification, you must demonstrate your competency, knowledge, and understanding by completing each unit. The assessment process is based on work-based evidence and knowledge tasks—there are no exams.

    Assessment Methods
Your assessment will consist of the following methods:

    • Questions & Answers – Knowledge tasks completed via our online portal.

    • Work-Based Evidence Submission – Providing relevant workplace documents.

    • Additional Methods (if required) – This may include Professional Discussions, Witness Statements, or Reflective Accounts.

    Assessment Process

    • Initial Assessment & Induction – After enrolment, you will undergo an initial assessment to determine your experience and readiness for the qualification. You will also complete an induction that explains the assessment requirements, process, and expectations.

    • Assessment Plan – An individual assessment plan will be created, outlining the units to be covered and the types of evidence required. The plan helps you track progress and ensures you understand what needs to be completed.

    • E-Portfolio Access – You will receive login details for our online platform, where you can access your assessment 24/7.

    • Assessor Support – Each candidate is assigned a dedicated assessor who provides continuous guidance and support. Our assessors are available via telephone, email, or the portal, seven days a week.

    • Duration & Flexibility – The qualification can be completed within one to six months, depending on individual circumstances. Candidates have 12 months of full access and support.

    Evidence Requirements
Assessment is workplace-based, requiring a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competency. Accepted evidence includes:

    • Observations – Direct assessments of your work performance.

    • Witness Testimonies – Statements from managers or colleagues confirming your competency.

    • Professional Discussions – Conversations with your assessor to confirm your knowledge.

    • Written Reports – Documents detailing how you have applied health and safety practices in your role.

    • Supporting Documents (e.g., Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Audits, Accident Reports) – Your assessor will provide guidance outlining the required evidence.

Evidence collected within the past two years can be submitted, allowing candidates to utilise existing documentation without unnecessary repetition. Your assessor will review your submitted evidence and provide feedback to ensure it meets the required standards.
